What is EMDR?

Developed by an American psychologist, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an eight-phase process using the science of eye motion to change old, unproductive thought patterns, and replace them with healthy thought patterns. It is most commonly used to relieve post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but can used by anyone to help create a strong emotional foundation.
EMDR is now endorsed by the Australian Psychological Society and the National Health and Medical Research Council as a recommended treatment for PTSD.

Will I lose control?

Hypnosis is like listening to beautiful music that captivates your attention. You can come out of it at any time. But it may feel so good, you just want to stay with it. While you are in hypnosis, you are still yourself. The entire focus of your hypnotherapy session is to bring your goals to life. You, and your hypnotherapist, will work together to make that happen.

How long is a session?

Plan for two hours for your first consultation. Plan for one hour for each subsequent session. It is best to take a few hours off after your session.Give yourself some time to be away from routines and work commitments.

How many sessions will it take?

Allow for 1-4 or more sessions. Everyone is unique. You may have accomplished everything that you set out to do after first or 2 sessions. You may want to extend your work with your hypnotherapist to go to the next level. We can discuss this during your consultation, or you can send a question below.

What is self-hypnosis, and can I learn it?

You can learn to take many of the benefits from professional hypnosis with you.
Self-hypnosis is simply the use of relaxation and concentration to help bring about a goal. There are over 100 ways to benefit from self-hypnosis, including relieving stress, preparing for public speaking, and sleeping well. Before you leave Empowering Hypnotherapy Clinic, you will learn simple ways to get the most from self-hypnosis, and you will receive a self-hypnosis audio at no extra cost.

What does hypnotherapy cost?

$120 per hour (GST included).

Do you offer a discount for multiple sessions?

Yes. Book and pay for 1-3 sessions, and receive a 20% discount.

Is the cost of hypnotherapy covered by insurance?
